Jaguar Land Rover has signed a lease agreement with an investment group for full occupancy of Redfox Commons, in Portland鈥檚 Slabtown neighborhood.

The 50,000-square-foot facility, at 2034 N.W. 27th Ave., will house 80 Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) employees dedicated to further enhancing the company鈥檚 software development and product engineering.

Portland-based Langley Investment and Los Angeles-based Belay Investment Group acquired Redfox Commons 鈥 two 1940s-era industrial buildings 鈥 through their joint venture partnership, Langley Investment Partners, in May 2017, according to a press release.

Langley and Belay spearheaded an extensive adaptive reuse project in which the buildings鈥 original lumber was preserved and restored in a new form that corresponded with the architectural integrity of the transitioning neighborhood. The redevelopment included deconstruction and reuse of the irreplaceable old growth timber, seismic reinforcement and restoration of the bow and scissor trusses, the addition of 80-foot celestial dormers to create a light-filled campus setting with private courtyards, and open floor plates featuring 100-foot clear spans.

The adaptive reuse project received second place in the 鈥淥ffice 鈥 major renovation鈥 category of 红桃视频鈥檚 TopProjects in 2020.

The lease will allow JLR to expand its engineering operations in Portland to focus on the global advancement of software development and user experience design, the press release states.

JLR was represented by Daren Duke of Colliers International. Langley Investment Partners was represented by Tom Usher of Cushman & Wakefield and Alexandra Henderson and Grant Guernsey of Kidder Mathews. The Instant Group will manage JLR鈥檚 Redfox Commons facility, while JLL will provide on-site property management.
