Oregon Health & Science University is planning to expand the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital on its Marquam Hill campus by an estimated 180,000 square feet. In conjunction, OHSU intends to entitle the provision of associated parking at a ratio of one space per 600 square feet. These spaces would be entitled now and a location for them would be designated in the future.

Plans call for demolition of the above-grade retail structure and sky-bridge. The work would also include renovation of the below-grade area and construction of a two-story multipurpose event structure with loading at grade. The project would involve approximately 67,000 square feet, including the basement. Stormwater would be handled via a green roof and mechanical exception and/or in-ground planters.

Penske Truck Leasing Co. proposes to conduct its business on the property. Operations would involve motor vehicle and truck leasing, maintenance of commercial vehicles on site (including repairs of trucks and trailers), and outside parking for all vehicles. An office would occupy a portion of the existing building and there would be a motor vehicle repair shop. The leasing area would exceed 3,000 square feet. No changes are proposed to the impervious area, landscaping, or frontage.

Discussion will focus on development of a portion of the Red Electric Trail within an existing right-of-way connecting Southwest Cameron Road to Southwest Shattuck Road. An environmental review is required because portions of the trail will pass through areas within the environmental protection overlay zone and tree removal is planned in these areas as well.
