PROJECT SIGNIFICANCE: Kiln, a lifestyle coworking and flexible office brand, opened its first location in Portland on Aug. 1. Located at 1120 S.E. Madison St., in the Buckman neighborhood, the handcrafted workspace will suit entrepreneurs, executives, tech workers, nonprofits, creatives and others. The 36,000-square-foot facility can accommodate teams as small as one up to as large as 100.

The historic commercial building was constructed in 1938 as a bakery and candy manufacturing facility and has always housed creative businesses. It is accessible by transit and bicycle via paths including the Eastbank Esplanade.

Kiln Portland membership will include access to a variety of workspaces, private offices, team studios, meeting and event spaces, a podcast and video recording studio, a state-of-the-art theater space, a wellness studio, and food and beverage offerings. The space also can accommodate meetings and events. Kiln hosts a variety of tech and entrepreneurship programming, networking events, professional development workshops, and lifestyle/exercise classes.

Local real estate broker Macadam Forbes played a key role in the project, according to Kiln.
